Aurora Lighting Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is an increasingly important to any lighting design scheme. Aside from complying with current legislation, luminaires that use at least 2/3 less energy than standard incandescent lamps can provide the same amount of light and last up to 10 times longer.

Generating 70 percent less heat, they're safer to operate and can cut energy costs. Aurora is committed to providing innovative, well designed energy efficient lighting solutions for residential and commercial lighting applications.

HID luminaires also fall into the category of energy efficient as they utilise the energy they draw extremely effectively with a high light output ratio.

Part L1A

Building Regulations Part L1A : New Dwellings' requires provision for energy efficient lighting by following a number of guidelines, which includes:

Provide light fittings (including lamp, control gear, an appropriate housing, reflector, shade or diffuser for controlling the output light) that only take lamps having a luminous efficiency greater than 40 lumens per circuit watt.

Installed fixed energy efficient lighting in the most frequently used locations in the house to a number not less than :

a. One per 25m2 of dwelling floor area (excluding garages) or part thereof; or
b. One per four fixed light fittings

LED Lighting

LED is fast becoming the light source of the future, combining energy efficiency and cool operating temperatures with a multitude of colours and long lamp life. Aurora's range of LED lighting is a comprehensive selection of innovative luminaires designed to complement halogen or compact fluorescent luminaires in the ceiling, on the wall and at low level to allow the user to change the dynamic of the space to suit their needs and mood.

Flexible luminaire design allows us to create fittings suitable for locations previously inaccessible via halogen and CFL eg FLEX and strip light. As technology progresses, the lumens per watt is increasing and allowing LED's to be considered as a viable alternative to traditional light sources and not just a decorative element.
