Trading Depot now with Paypal and Social Media
Trading Depot has been established as an on-line provider of competitive plumbing, electrical, heating and bathroom products for over two years and seen substantial growth of its business since formation.
To ensure they stay competitive and improve the customer experience they are continually developing a number of areas of the web site and business practices.
One such development has been the addition of Paypal to the checkout process. Adding Paypal to the existing credit and debit card options has meant that customers don’t have to type in their card details each time they buy something resulting in a faster online check out.
Mat Miller, Director of Trading Depot said “Paypal is just one of a number of incremental improvements we have made to the web site since we launched over two years ago. Adding Paypal has meant that once the customer starts the checkout process it is now just a single click to placing the order”. Mat went on to say “using Paypal means our customers don’t have to find their credit card and take time to enter a lot more information”
Despite the credit crunch and general business malaise, Trading Depot has significantly increased its turnover and number of repeat customers each year to become an established brand within the DIY and self build market.
Mat noted a couple of other ways they are improving the customer experience “we are unable to provide technical experience to our customers, but we have now sourced the most popular technical manufacturer help lines and posted their information on the trading web site. We are also still in the process of providing a fully developed help web site.”
On the lighter side of the business, Trading Depot has been nurturing a social media presence on both Facebook and Twitter. Adam Agius, Trading Depot’s Warehouse and Distribution Supervisor has started a Twitter feed on the main web site. This has also been linked to a Facebook page which is hoped will develop over time with exclusive special offers and other announcements”
Mat commented on Adam’s involvement saying “we wanted to have a non-corporate feel to company announcements and Adam has delivered this by providing customers with quirky but useful updates including voucher codes and special offers. The quick snippet updates have been useful in delivering Trading Depot news to our regular customers and rewarding their loyalty.”
Email updates are another further development at Trading Depot. Mat added “we have been cautious about using email to keep our customer’s updated as we are very familiar with the problems of email overload. We have developed a format of brief and infrequent email newsletters to keep our customers informed of any extra special offers that we are promoting”.
Looking to the future, there are further developments in the pipeline to keep the web site fresh and more useful to customers, though Mat remained tight lipped saying “keep checking our Twitter feed for the latest news!”
