Despite the challenging economic conditions for the DIY and home improvement market, Trading Depot has announced an increase in turnover of 30% for the financial year 2010 / 2011.
Trading Depot launched their trading web site www.tradingdepot.co.uk in March 2008 with a fully integrated system linking to over 30,000 square feet of warehousing. Mat Miller, Director of Trading Depot said “the team are absolutely delighted to have achieved this performance in only our third year of trading”.
Mat went on to say “given the general malaise of the current economic climate, we entered the last financial year with some trepidation looking to simply consolidate on our excellent growth since launch. However, the whole team have worked tremendously hard to deliver a consistently high level of customer service and customer satisfaction to existing customers, resulting in repeat business and word of mouth recommendations.”
The Trading Depot team which has doubled in size over the last 12 months will not be resting on their laurels and have some exciting plans for the future starting with the launch of a dedicated Trading Depot YouTube video channel.
Mat explained “since we launched the site with our class leading product photography the Internet has evolved considerably. We wanted to improve the customer experience and product understanding further and are now in the process of creating a number of product videos giving 3d views demonstrating the products in far more detail than we can with the existing photography”.
The channel can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/user/TradingDepot and initially features some of the top selling brands such as Aqualisa, Bristan and Polypipe. This will be expanded to feature up to 2000 videos by the end of the year. Some of the initial product videos have already achieved several hundred views each – the most popular being the Aqualisa Shower Spares range so far.
In addition to having the dedicated YouTube channel, the team will also be integrating the product videos onto the trading web site. Mat commented “we are observing how the Internet and user experience is constantly evolving and ever higher standards are required from web content providers. These products videos and integrating them into our web site product information pages are the first step in what we hope will enable us to become a class leading web site.”
With economic conditions still expected to provide tough trading for the industry in the coming year, Mat is still continuing to push forward. He said “we have recently added more employees to the team will continue to develop the web site and add to the user experience wherever possible.”
